Shirley

My two passions in life, apart from my family, are animals and music. I grew up in Sheringham, North Norfolk, and always had at least one dog as a companion, often with chickens, rabbits and other animals as well. I studied music and, apart from raising my children, Hilary and Kenneth, I have worked as a music teacher most of my life. I have taught piano, theory of music and bamboo pipes, the latter being very special to me. It was through bamboo pipes that I met Ted and many of the friends we have today.

Ted

I grew up in Harleston, Norfolk, the oldest of 5 brothers. At 18 I went to London to train as an actuary which was my career until I retired in 2002. I have a CD collection of well over 1000 CDs, mostly of classical music.

Cassie

I was born on 4th April 2001 and have lived nearly all my life with my humans, Shirley and Ted. I'm not quite sure how they'd cope without me and I have no intention of letting them find out! On the whole they are very well trained but I could do with more walks and food. I am a Springer Spaniel x and I love mud and dirty water. I'm not too keen on the sea because the water moves and it tastes funny. I like playing with my doggy cousins (see Hilary's Hounds) but I like it even better when they go home and I have my humans to myself again. In 2006, Oliver came to live with us. I quite like having a brother to look after and boss about.

Oliver

My birthday is about 13th July 2002 and I am a whippet lurcher. I started my life properly when I went to live with Hilary when I was 7 weeks old and she brought me up. I loved living with her, but she wanted a large family of dogs and I didn't like it. In June 2006 I made up my mind to live with Cassie and Mum Hilary had no choice but to let me. I'm very good with a hang dog expression you see! Mum Hilary reckons Mum Shirley stole me cos she was always whispering in my ear that I was her dog really. Well now I am and I show my appreciation by making sure that the house smells of me!
